Date of Design: 2021
Date of Manufacture: 2021
Decade: 2020s
Region: Europe
Significance: Made from coffee waste
Manufacturer: Zuiver
Material: Natural fibres
Process: Pressure moulded
Monobloc: No
Cantilever: No
Renewable Carbon: Yes
Weight: 4.04
Note: Country of origin: Netherlands. Image: Zuiver. ERPR Score = 4 (poor). Although this chair is billed as 'the most sustainable so far' it performed poorly in my analysis. The shell is made from coffee beans mixed with nearly 60% polypropylene. The base is made from painted ash. The product then needs to be dismantled at end-of-life and the shell cannot be reprocessed. The indoor chair is available in one configuration with only one colour choice and cannot be stacked.
