Designed by: Emeco
Co-Designed by: –
Designer: Emeco
Co-Designer: –
Date of Design: 2010
Date of Manufacture: 2010
Decade: 2010s
Region: Americas
Significance: 111 Coke bottles recycled to make each chair
Manufacturer: Emeco
Material: PET (recycled)
Process: Injection moulded
Monobloc: No
Cantilever: No
Renewable Carbon: Yes
Weight: 5.4
Note: Country of origin: USA. Image: Emeco. ERPR score = 6 (poor). Although made from recycled PET significant quantities of fibreglass are added to the material, negatively impacting the end-of-life prospects for the chair. The chair can be recycled but only when returned to the manufacturer (not realistic for most users). The chair cannot be stacked to improve transport efficiency. The recycled PET has been refined to almost match the finish of virgin PET. Available in a range of seven bright colours but only one configuration of the design is available.
