Note: Country of origin: Italy (designer), Switzerland (manufacturer) Image: Vitra Design Museum. Alessandro Mendini (1931- ) graduated from Politecnico di Milano with an architecture degree in 1959. Since that time he has built an outstanding career as a product designer, interior designer, architect publisher and author of several books. Grano was part of a series of chairs made from a shell of acrylic containing maize, earth and cork .
