While the Laleggera does not look like a plastic chair its strength is entirely dependent on the polyurethane foam that has been injected into the hollow ply wood veneered outer shell. ‎ Designed in 1996, the chair has been continuously produced by Alias since 1998 and was awarded the Compasso d’Oro the same year. The Laleggera is light (less than 4kg), can be stacked up to six high and is available with or without arms in a range of woods with transparent or lacquered finishes or upholstered in leather.
